Eberron Campaign - Tracking Tanter

Chapter 4 The lightning rail raced in the dead of night down the track away from Sharn towards Wroat. Between the late hour and the brutal ending to the thieves' guild encounter, we sat in  broody silence  in our sleeping car. In the morning everyone seemed hesitant to go forth and socialize, maybe nervous of any police presence on the train or in town. Eventually Belanor had had enough of the reclusiveness -- they had found an ancient Xen'drikian relic and vanguished a horde of miscreants, others must know of their glory! After a tuna fish sandwich for lunch, he ventured out of our sleeping car and headed to the entertainment car. Despite the early hour there were already a bunch of people drinking and gambling. To a rough count, there were six humans, one gnomish card dealer, three elves, and three halflings in the parlor, and Belanor sidled over to the blackjack table and took a seat. Ordering a round of drinks, he introduced himself to a human with a short stack next ...

Eberron Campaign - Mission to Xen'drik

Chapter 1 Our story opened in Sharn, a bustling city on the mouth of the Dagger River in Breland. Being an adventuring group that had been questing after low to moderate importance relics for the last six months, our shop "Belenor's Exemplary Group of Legend Seekers" was on the second plateau of the city -- close enough to the ground to be shady enough to be known to the right customers yet higher than the base level to illustrate our success. Our heroes were relaxing in their shop when they were suddenly visited by the woman Uleena, who entered hefting two large sacks of coin. Uleena explained that she had been sent by her superiors at Morgrave University to hire our group to travel to the wild continent Xen'drik. Their scholars had finally deciphered some ancient texts that gave clues leading to a metallic sphere that -- once found -- could then lead to one of the Orbs of Dragonkind. Ancient fables say that the giant civilizations of Xen'drik created some Orbs...

The Real Effects of Base Attack Speed Nerfs

Introduction The second preseason balance patch recently went through, and it made a ton of changes to both champions and items. There was a lot of talk about the patch, from Rengar and Diana fans were bubbling about how their champions were playable again to Eve players were mourning the lost damage on their favorite AP assassin.  However, I didn't see anyone talk about Ezreal. His change seemed  small - just an adjustment of his base attack speed from 0.665 to 0.625 - so I understand why it wasn't the talk of the century. But is a base attack speed change actually  insignificant? Just how much does fiddling with that stat change his power? Considering that he's one of the most popular champions in the League right now, I figured I'd do a very quick write up on what the 0.04 drop in base attack speed does to the Prodigal Explorer. Attack Speed Changes Ripple Why would I even think that a base attack speed reduction is a big deal? Part of my concern comes fro...

Getting the Most out of ADC Effective HP

Image
Introduction to Effective Health There's a popular misconception floating around that if the enemy team starts building a lot of percentage armor penetration, you need to build more health. Why would you invest in armor when that Kha'Zix reduces 25% of it with his Black Cleaver and then penetrates over 35% of your remaining armor with a Last Whisper? You get so little real armor from your armor items that the real secret to surviving burst casters is building more health. Right? Well, that's not very true. As I'll discuss in this article, what you should really be concerned about is your effective  HP. It's your EHP that determines how much damage you can sponge before you die, and it's related to both health and resists; they complement each other. Stacking health without gaining armor means that each point of health is quite ineffective, and stacking resists with a low health pool makes each point of health effective but you have fewer of them (incidentall...
